Chasing Rainbows

The scientist who made the case for 51ĀŅĀ×»»ĘŽāi as rainbow capitol of the world in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society will talk about the science behind the fascinating phenomenon during a free hybrid program at 5 p.m. on Thursday June 16.
Dr. Steven Businger is a certified consulting meteorologist, UHM professor of atmospheric sciences and co-creator of the RainbowChase phone app. In āThe Secrets of the Best Rainbows on Earth,ā he identifies 22 51ĀŅĀ×»»ĘŽian terms describing rainbows (including circular, fragment, double, earth-clinging, lunar and barely visible) and explains the physics that create rainbows and make 51ĀŅĀ×»»ĘŽāi a prime viewing location.
