Lawyers’ Panel II – Non-Profit Business Operations

Section 012: 9:00  - 11:00 AM (with a 10-minute break) Lawyers' Panel II: Non Profit Business  Ms. Miyoko Pettit-Toledo will moderate the Non-Profit Business Panel, which will include Mr. Hugh Jones (Ashford & Wriston), Ms. Katherine (Kate) Lloyd (non-profit consultant), and Dean Nicholas Mirkay. The panel will discuss the lifecycle of a nonprofit and the different roles for lawyers in that process – including the nuts and bolts of forming a nonprofit, managing tax implications, the duties of non-profit boards, and the importance of practical operations like strategic planning and budgeting. The William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of 51ÂÒÂ×»»ÆÞ‘i at Ma Ì„ noa and the Institute of Asian-Pacific Business Law (IAPBL) present Business Boot Camp II, led by Richardson School of Law faculty and experienced practitioners. Business Boot Camp II will give you a deeper understanding of complex financial and business concepts and how some of those topics intersect with the law. If you are an attorney advising clients, a business owner looking to grow your business, or a non-profit professional looking to advance yourself and your organization, Business Boot Camp II is for you. Offered via Zoom, the first Business Boot Camp II session is offered free of charge; additional sessions are $50.00 each for attorneys who wish to earn Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit (2 CLE credits per session) and $25.00 each for those not needing CLE credit.
