The Center for Biographical Research presents: “Remembering Our Intimacies: Moʻolelo, Aloha ʻĀina, and Ea” Dr. Jamaica Heolimeleikalani Osorio, Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of 51׻‘i at ԴDz Cosponsored by Hamilton Library, the Spark M. Working at the intersections of 51׻ian knowledge, Indigenous queer theory, and Indigenous feminisms, it seeks to recuperate Native 51׻ian concepts and ethics around relationality, desire, and belonging grounded in the land, memory, and the body of Native 51׻ʻi. Dr. Jamaica Heolimeleikalani Osorio is a Kanaka Maoli wahine artist/ activist / scholar born and raised in Pālolo Valley to parents Jonathan and Mary Osorio. Heoli earned her PhD in English (51׻ian literature) in 2018 from the University of 51׻ʻi at ԴDz. Currently, Heoli is an Assistant Professor of Indigenous and Native 51׻ian Politics at the University of 51׻ʻi at ԴDz. Heoli is a three-time national poetry champion, poetry mentor, and a published author. She is a proud past Kaiāpuni student, Ford fellow, and a graduate of Kamehameha, Stanford University (BA), and New York University (MA). Her book Remembering Our Intimacies: Moʻolelo, Aloha ʻĀina, and Ea was just published by the University of Minnesota Press.
