Advocacy for Social Justice Talk Story Series_______ Explore organized efforts and mechanisms for social change _______ "Intergenerational Trauma, and the Asian American and Pacific Islander Community" with Francis Joseph Gallego and moderated by José Barzola _______ Session: Join us for a conversation on how intergenerational trauma has affected many parts of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, as well as ways mental health providers can create safety and space for community members and consumers. _______ About Francis Joseph Gallego: Francis Joseph Gallego, LCSW has more than 20 years of professional work experience (6 in New York, 3 in 51ÂÒÂ×»»ÆÞi and 11 + in California) helping clients with stress and anxiety, LGBTQI-related issues, family conflicts, & trauma and abuse. He believes in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. He also believes in the importance of cultural humility, diversity, inclusion, and dismantling oppression and how it impacts our lives. Francis has clinical and therapeutic experience working with women, people impacted by chronic illness (cancer, HIV/AIDS), communities of color, indigenous communities, and working on processing intergenerational trauma and how it impacts individuals and families, as well as breaking down systems of oppression. _______ About José Barzola: José Barzola has a passion for creating social change through nonviolence, nurturing relationships that transcend cultural barriers, and focusing on issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity. José is currently the Conflict and Peace Specialist at the Office of the Provost and Affiliate Faculty at the Matsunaga Institute for Peace at the University of 51ÂÒÂ×»»ÆÞ'i at ²ÑÄå²Ô´Ç²¹.
