Join us for aBwebwenato/talanoa discussion about who the 6PAC are and their current work at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).This event, featuringthe next generation of young research diplomats, will highlight the impacts of climate change on Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Panelistbios:
Dr. Transform Aqorauis a leading figure in Pacific Islands fisheries, development, and oceans management. He currently serves as Vice Chancellor of the Solomon Islands National University (SINU), Legal Adviser to the Marshall Islands Marine Resources Authority (MIMRA), and CEO of iTUNA Intel. With extensive experience in the field since 1988, he has held various positions including Legal Counsel at the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA), CEO of the Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA), and member of the World Bank Blue Ribbon Panel. He is a prolific author on fisheries, politics, and governance issues and holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Papua New Guinea, Master of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada and PhD in Law from the University of Wollongong, Australia.

Dr. Morgan Wairiu isa Natural Resource and Climate Adaptation Specialist from the Solomon Islands. He has over 30 years of experience in agriculture, forestry, land use, and the environment. Currently, he is the Chief of Party of the USAID funded SCALE-NRM Project and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Solomon Islands National University Council. He was also a Coordinating Lead Author of the Small Islands Chapter of the IPCC Working Group 2 Sixth Assessment Report, and his research focuses on food security and climate change.

John Kautokeis a Political and Legal Advisor at the High Commission of the Kingdom of Tonga, in London. Recently, he has assisted the Delegation of Tonga at ISWG-GHG 13 and MEPC 79, and will do so again at the upcoming ISWG-GHG 14,15, and MEPC80.

Atina Schutzis a legal and policy researcher with the Micronesian Center for Sustainable Transport and, through this capacity, assists the 6PAC.

Each month, the East-West Center Research Program presents an “EWC Insights” seminar that examines an environmental, demographic, or political and economic transformation reshaping the Asia-Pacific region.
